PUPBLIC NOTICE – MOFA APOSTILLE FOR ALL CONSULAR DOCUMENTS

Following Pakistan’s accession to The Hague Convention abolishing the obligation to legalize foreign public documents (Apostille Convention) of 1961, as of November 18, 2024, therefore the Consulate of Italy in Karachi no longer carries out any type of translation and/or legalization, all documents must be prepared at a local notary office and translations into Italian produced by translators recognized in the country (a list of translators can be found on the Consulate website), then the documentation thus formed must be apostilled, the apostille is placed at the local Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA). For Italian documentation to be enforced in Pakistan, the procedure also provides for the document to be drawn up at the competent Italian authority (notary), Urdu/English translation produced on the basis of a recognized translator (see or request list of translators at the Embassy of Pakistan in Rome and/or Consulate General in Milan), then proceed to the territorially competent Prefecture (the concerned regional Government office of the Ministry of Interior) for the apostille procedure on the complete document as described.
