All documents formatted in this way of a school, notarial, and more generally consular nature and content have full validity in Italy and vice-versa; all documents equally produced in Italy, accompanied by translation into English and apostille issued by the designated Italian authorities are fully valid and accepted on-site.

Specifically, the Consulate no longer handles verification and certification procedures as it did in the past; the now obsolete procedure for issuing individual declarations of value is no longer in force. Potentially such old procedure would, in fact, result as the registration of an invalid and illegal act, especially in light of the new procedure that has come into effect.

The declaration of value is now replaced by the submission of documentation by the students related to their previous studies, complete with translation into Italian and apostille, as well as the regular certificate of comparability and verification issued by the recognized and designated Institution: CIMEA (an integral part of the ENIC-NARIC network).

This opportunity is taken also to emphasize that even in the presence of any signatures that the student may affix with the relevant authentication, the only, same procedure mentioned above is valid, carried out by the local authorities in charge.

It is emphasized that the Consulate CANNOT authenticate the student’s signature because, besides the change in procedure, it involves a foreign citizen and not an Italian citizen.

The Consulate NO longer issues any type of Declaration of Value.

However, if the University or other academic Italian relevant entity has doubts regarding the factuality/document formation, it can always send the same, via certified mail (PEC) to the Consulate, the Consulate will follow accordingly with the procedural steps described below:

Forwarding the documentation to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) with a request for verification;

The MOFA will send it to the relevant entities (University/School that issued the documents);

Only when the relevant entity issues the result of the verification carried out, the MOFA can then provide feedback to the Consulate;

The Consulate would proceed to send feedback on the verification.

It is important to emphasize and keep in mind, as here in Pakistan for the procedure referred to in points: a, b, c, d, due to previous experiences, it is often NOT possible to get feedback.

What is detailed here relates to the procedures currently in effect for their expediency and in the interest of the students.

In relation to the subject matter, it is hereby announced that as of November 18, 2024, Pakistan has acceded to the Apostille Convention.
